Zojuist vielen me deze twee cats op. Is er duidelijk verschil tussen beide? Mijn eerste gedachte is dat het veel logischer is om ze samen te voegen (bij voorkeur tot Categorie:Volkslied , liever geen diminutieven in een categorienaam). - Ja, dat is inderdaad verwarrend. Wat we misschien zouden kunnen doen is Categorie:Volksliedje hernoemen in Categorie:Volksmuziek, want volgens mij wordt met beide begrippen iets anders bedoeld. Vincent Steenberg (overleg) 5 feb 2023 15:17 (CET)
- In principe eens met de voorgestelde tweedeling, mits het verschil tussen beide (volksliedje/volksmuziek) duidelijk uit de verf komt, zodat duidelijk is dat de cats naast elkaar kunnen bestaan.
- Terzijde: ik ben vandaag eens een beetje begonnen met sommige pagina's te hercategoriseren en heb een paar nieuwe cats aangemaakt die me zinvol leken (in theorie zou ik nog heel lang daarmee kunnen doorgaan, maar dat staat op korte termijn niet op de planning). Ik neem aan dat niemand hier grote moete mee heeft? Het komt feitelijk vooral neer op het verder uitbouwen van reeds bestaande categoriestructuren. De Wikischim (overleg) 5 feb 2023 18:22 (CET)

Recent changes
- In the Vector 2022 skin, logged-out users using the full-width toggle will be able to see the setting of their choice even after refreshing pages or opening new ones. This only applies to wikis where Vector 2022 is the default. [1]
Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 February. It will be on all wikis from 9 February (calendar).- Previously, we announced when some wikis would be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. These switches will not be announced any more, as the read-only time has become non-significant. Switches will continue to happen at 7AM UTC on Tuesdays and Thursdays. [2]
- Across all the wikis, in the Vector 2022 skin, logged-in users will see the page-related links such as "What links here" in a new side menu. It will be displayed on the other side of the screen. This change had previously been made on Czech, English, and Vietnamese Wikipedias. [3]
- Community Wishlist Survey 2023 will stop receiving new proposals on Monday, 6 February 2023, at 18:00 UTC. Proposers should complete any edits by then, to give time for translations and review. Voting will begin on Friday, 10 February.
Future changes
Gadgets and user scripts will be changing to load on desktop and mobile sites. Previously they would only load on the desktop site. It is recommended that wiki administrators audit the gadget definitions prior to this change, and add skins=…for any gadgets which should not load on mobile. More details are available.

Problems
- On wikis where patrolled edits are enabled, changes made to the mentor list by autopatrolled mentors are not correctly marked as patrolled. It will be fixed later this week. [4]

Problems
- Last week, during planned maintenance of Cloud Services, unforeseen complications forced the team to turn off all tools for 2–3 hours to prevent data corruption. Work is ongoing to prevent similar problems in the future. [9]

Editing news 2023 #1[bewerken]

This newsletter includes two key updates about the Editing team's work:
- The Editing team will finish adding new features to the Talk pages project and deploy it.
- They are beginning a new project, Edit check.
Talk pages project
The Editing team is nearly finished with this first phase of the Talk pages project. Nearly all new features are available now in the Beta Feature for Overleghulpmiddelen.
It will show information about how active a discussion is, such as the date of the most recent comment. There will soon be a new "Onderwerp toevoegen" button. You will be able to turn them off at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing-discussion. Please tell them what you think.
An A/B test for Overleghulpmiddelen on the mobile site has finished. Editors were more successful with Overleghulpmiddelen. The Editing team is enabling these features for all editors on the mobile site.
New Project: Edit Check
The Editing team is beginning a project to help new editors of Wikipedia. It will help people identify some problems before they click "Wijzigingen publiceren". The first tool will encourage people to add references when they add new content. Please watch that page for more information. You can join a conference call on 3 March 2023 to learn more.

We are the hosting this month's Wikisource Community meeting on 26th February 2023 at 11 AM UTC (check your local time) according to the wudele poll.
The first half of the meeting will be focused on non-technical updates and conversations like events, conferences, proofread-a-thons and collaborations. The second half will be focused on technical updates and conversations, such as talking about major challenges faced by Wikisource communities, similar to the ones conducted in previous Community meetings.

De Wikimedia Foundation gaat het schakelen tussen haar eerste en tweede datacenter testen. Dit zal er voor zorgen dat Wikipedia en andere Wikimedia wiki's zelfs na een ramp beschikbaar blijven. Om er zeker van te zijn dat alles goed werkt, zal de Wikimedia-afdeling Technologie gaan testen of er betrouwbaar tussen de datacentra gewisseld kan worden. Veel teams moeten voorbereid en beschikbaar zijn om enige onverwachte problemen op te lossen.
Al het internetverkeer zal anders verstuurd worden op 1 maart. De test zal beginnen op 14:00 UTC.
Vanwege beperkingen in MediaWiki is het echter wel nodig om de wiki's tijdelijk op alleen-lezen te zetten. We verontschuldigen ons voor deze maatregel, en we zullen proberen om de impact in de toekomst te verminderen.
U zult in staat zijn om artikelen te lezen, maar niet te bewerken voor een korte periode. Dit geldt voor alle wiki's.
- U zult maximaal een uur lang niet in staat zijn bewerkingen te doen op woensdag 1 maart 2023.
- Bij bewerken of opslaan zult u een foutmelding zien. Wij hopen dat er geen bewerkingen verloren gaan, maar hier zijn wij niet zeker van. Wanneer u deze foutmelding ziet, wacht u alstublieft tot alles weer normaal is. Dan kunt u uw bewerking opslaan. Toch raden we het ten zeerste aan dat u een kopie van uw bewerkingen maakt.
Andere effecten:
- Het uitvoeren van achtergrondtaken zal langzamer gaan, en sommige taken kunnen ook worden geannuleerd. Roodgekleurde koppelingen zullen niet zo snel bijgewerkt worden als gebruikelijk. Als u een artikel aanmaakt waar ergens anders al naar verwezen wordt, zal de koppeling langer roodgekleurd blijven dan gebruikelijk. Sommige langlopende scripts zullen moeten worden onderbroken.
- We verwachten dat de uitrol van nieuwe code gebeurt zoals iedere week gebeurt. Het kan echter voorkomen dat codewijzigingen per geval geblokkeerd kunnen worden als de operatie ze later nodig heeft.
- GitLab zal ongeveer 90 minuten onbereikbaar zijn.

Problems
- Last week, in some areas of the world, there were problems with loading pages for 20 minutes and saving edits for 55 minutes. These issues were caused by a problem with our caching servers due to unforseen events during a routine maintenance task. [13][14]
